Does the Lemon Law Cover My Defective MP3 Player?

Lemon laws are state laws that offer a solution for individuals who purchase cars that do not perform as they should.

Lemon MP3 players, computers, boats, RVs, motorcycles and other equipment are all covered by the federal lemon law, but it is mainly used for vehicles.

The word "lemon" was first used to mean a "worthless thing" in 1909. It now refers to anything that was broken or not working properly when purchased, or anything that doesn't work on a regular basis, like an MP3 player.

I Think I Have a Lemon MP3 Player! Now What?

If you recently bought yourself or someone else an MP3 player and it's not working properly, you might have a lemon MP3 player.

You can take the player back to the store where you bought it. It it's brand new, they'll probably replace it. If you've had it for a while, they'll probably fix it and send it back to you.

But if you have a real lemon MP3 player, it will probably just break over and over again.

I Bought a Defective MP3 Player. Do I Qualify?

In order to succeed with a lemon law claim:

• The MP3 player must have been fixed more than a certain number of times (depending on the lemon law of your state).

• The MP3 player must have been repaired for the same reason or must have been out of service for the same reason as the repair work for more than a certain number of days during its warranty period.

• The problem that lowers the market value of the MP3 player and its use must have been worked on before.

If you qualify for the lemon law with your MP3 player, you may be able to receive a refund on the MP3 player, or receive a brand new one.

If it is found that you have had a lemon law problem with your MP3 player, you will be compensated for the player, and will not have to pay any sales taxes, registration fees, court title fees, license fees or other legal fees regarding that lemon MP3 player.
